Hellu,
Today I’ll be sharing the routine I’ve put together for my daily yoga and stretches. The pictures were taken with a timer on a tripod, so the angles might not be 10/10 but after a few tries- I just picked the best out of what I had. It’s nothing fancy, but I hope you enjoy this look into my favorite New Years resolution!
I started off by “reaching for the sky” as my former dance instructor called it, then down to my toes with alternating knee bends…
Then some amateur tree & warrior poses ^
I’ll do a sumo squat and back stretch, then child’s pose (my favorite) into upward dog…
Then the funniest of all the poses I’ve learned ^ called “cat and camel” and ending those with downward dog- which was the most difficult to get a good, centered photo!
To end the routine, I’ll sometimes throw in a butterfly stretch (not pictured) or some “cheerleader” stretches on each side. I don’t normally do boat pose daily, but I thought it was a good one to add in as a bonus…
And that’s a wrap! I got a lot more of a workout setting up the camera for multiple shots of each pose than I usually do just going through this routine each day, but it was still a great time. I spent a bit before putting a nice makeup look together and getting my hair to stay up in a bun (harder than it looks) so it wouldn’t be covering half my body in the photos…
After taking it down after, I really liked the result ^ still damp waves that fell almost evenly to each side! I’ll definitely try the bun technique as a way to hold a little more curl on days when I don’t use any product in my hair (:
I hope the pictures did justice to the stretches and simple poses I’ve been doing daily this year. I don’t always get every single one in each day, but rather mix it up to keep it interesting haha let me know if you have a favorite yoga pose in the comments! Feel free to ask any questions as well xo
Ooh I need to try the cheerleader stretch! I love doing yoga and stretching; since I spend most of my day sitting at a desk I try to get up and stretch every thirty minutes at least, and some days I do a longer video. I love SarahBethYoga on YouTube.

That one we used to do as part of our warm-up in dance class, it’s great! Thanks so much for your comment (:

That’s so cool! I did ballet, tap, and jazz for six years; then swing dance for two. I am dying to take a lyrical or contemporary class, but I just don’t have time and the adult classes are so expensive anyway.

Yeah, I couldn’t imagine paying for it myself (my classes were during the 3 years of middle school). I would love to take a random swing dance class for fun!

Amazing! Such a fun read with great stretching ideas. My favorite pose is the pigeon. It really stretches out your hamstrings and helps with lower back pain. I recently found out that my back pain was from tight hamstrings. 😳

Thanks! Oh wow, I’ll have to check that one out (: appreciate the tip haha

I love yoga haha child’s pose is one of my fave poses too! I’ve never heard the pose called ‘cat and camel,’ we call it ‘cat and cow!’ haha thats so funny!

You’re much more flexible than me, I still can’t quite reach the floor with my forward bend haha!! I love the child’s pose too, it’s so relaxing. I always thought it was called cat/cow, they must have lots of different names for it! Cat/camel makes a lot of sense too though 😀

I used to be able to touch my toes, and I’m getting closer again haha but I have the opposite of hyper-extended knees (forget what it’s called). I’m gonna call it cow now! Haha thanks for your comment (:

Yoga is something I’ve always wanted to try!

It’s really simple to get into! Start out doing easy poses like the ones I do, then you can choose to keep those up or advance to more difficult poses (: you should totally go for it- it’s helped me a lot with some of my aches & pains

As always I LOVE your hair!! I bet you can do so much with it haha and I love yoga! I haven’t done it in a while but the bf has been doing it by himself for a few years now. I’ve never gotten used to doing it by myself without an instructor. Your down dog looks so good! Ugh I need to get back into yoga!

Thank you so much! It’s sometimes hard to put it up cause there’s so much of it and it can get quite heavy on top of my head haha but I try (: I definitely recommend starting yoga. I tried to last year and wasn’t consistent, but this year doing it everyday has made such a difference! I feel my downward dog looks the worst haha I appreciate your sweet comment xoxo

I should try some yoga/excercising as well. Last week I started with pretty intense workout, but it only last one day.. whoops! 😀 At least it’s super nice to see someone who takes their resolutions seriously. Good job! 😉

Aww this was so much fun to read through!! I really enjoy yoga and stretching – the only reason I haven’t stuck with any routine is because I have sensitive hips, so I can’t try out some moves, haha! Either way, I do love it, and it was fun to see what you do.

I’m still trying to get into a consistent yoga routine. It’s awesome that you’ve been sticking with it. I’ve never tried that last pose (cat camel) and I was fighting to not try it until after sending this comment. Screw it, I’m going to try it now… it required more muscle use than I anticipated!

Haha I love this comment, Lyz! I hope you find some poses that you like to do daily (or however often). I do most of these, always SOMETHING, everyday- but it’s nice to have a range of different stretches cause you can pick and choose which ones you really need for how you’re feeling that day (: have fun with it xoxo
