Hellu,
One of my most important resolutions this year is to work out daily. I’m working on bettering myself and part of that is having a healthier body. I don’t go to a gym or use any machines, but I’ve come up with a routine that works for me- so I thought I’d share it with you all today…
Yoga before & after
I resolved to do yoga everyday last year and accomplished that. It made me feel so much better just to stretch my body somehow each day, so I knew I wanted to keep that up. I decided making my yoga routine bracket my workouts would be a great option. It would help me avoid pulling anything at the start of my exercises and aid any soreness afterwards. I’ve talked about what poses I like to do on my blog before, so I’ll link that post HERE if you’re interested to read!
The moves
My goal isn’t to lose weight, I’m at a healthy weight for my height and age. I really just want to get my body moving more and my blood pumping better in the morning. So the moves I do may not seem like much, but it’s also helping to tone what muscle I do have and strengthen my core & base. I rarely use my hand weights, but it’s something extra to have while doing some of these exercises…
I decided quite early on the 5 things I wanted to do and in what increments:
100 crunches per day
10 push-ups per day (adding 5 each month)
50 squats/lunges/donkey kicks per day
I alternate that last one so I’m not doing all 3 everyday and getting crazy sore quads lol
Mom’s gift to me
I used to use this stepper when I was in high school and it was the easiest way for me to get moving without breaking too much of a sweat. I would still feel the burn and even a bit of soreness the day after, so I know it works the right muscles for me. I asked my mom if I could have it and she dug it out of the garage for me! It’s not something I incorporate into my daily workout, but if I’m off work and sitting on the couch for hours on end- it’s a nice way to get the blood flowing in my legs again while I watch Netflix (:
Keeping track
I write down which exercises I completed each day in my planner. This helps me stay accountable to my resolution and also reminds me which alternating moves I’m doing that specific day. I have a designated drawer in my room for my workout tee shirts & shorts now. I also try to wear a headband to keep any sweat off my forehead, avoiding extra breakouts. It’s been really nice having something to wake me up better in the mornings and I’m hopeful I can keep up with it the whole year!
What do you do for exercise? Are you a gym rat or more of a yogi? Let me know in the comments, and as always- thanks so much for reading (:

I would really love to take up yoga, I think it would really help to wind down and shut my mind off for a while. At the moment I only do a small workout at home, Iโve not done much since summer but Iโm getting back into it now! Loved this post ๐

Itโs changed my life! I feel way less aches on a day-to-day basis and I think itโs been helping me feel less sore after workouts (: you should definitely give it a go, good luck

Getting some gear at home definitely aids motivation. I too am trying to workout (in any form) daily to stay more fit.

Are you working out literally daily? I hope not. Remember to take a break day!

I am, but thatโs why Iโm keeping it light. I didnโt wanna push myself to start out at 100 push-ups or do 50 squats + 50 lunges + 50 donkey kicks daily haha that would indeed be too much!

Well, in that case, good luck! ๐

Thank you! I try to keep my planner nice & neat cause it makes me better motivated to keep using it lol I used to workout almost the same way when I was in high school- but of course I was just a teenager and it was easy to get skinny abs ๐ now Iโve really gotta keep up with it if I wanna stay fit AND healthy. I think Iโve found a good routine & rhythm though

I want to start to work out daily as well but with so much work at uni, it makes it feel hard to do so! I think I might start keeping track of my workouts using my planner too, maybe it will motivate me to be more consistent! Great post! Really helpful โค

I totally get that, but I hope you can find time to workout enough to feel proud of yourself! It does get easier when you get into a routine of doing the exercises (: thanks so much for your comment
